Rang Barse

This project is a chase sequence and we were asked to conceptualize it in a unique way. We played with a lot of ideas and ultimately settled on a chase sequence centered around a man who does not want to play Holi. He steers away from all the miscreants in his area who want to throw colors on him.

This was one of the toughest projects to shoot because we started shooting somewhere around mid-October and the availability of colors was a huge issue. The pollution in Delhi had also reached a severe stage, making the conditions very poor for shooting. Plus, securing permits for a shoot where colors would fall everywhere was another difficult task. The pre-production was hectic because we had a limited budget and a tight schedule.

After every day of shooting, we stayed back and cleaned up all the areas we had covered in colors.

Shooting in an area like Chandni Chowk was another big issue because of a limited number of hands for crowd control and traffic management. However, this was one of the most satisfying projects I’ve worked on and the sheer joy of running a camera on tracks in the middle of the thin lane was unmatched.

This sequence was shot on Canon EOS 5D Mark IV & GoPro HERO7 and edited on Final Cut Pro.
